Olive tree pruning: why it is essential and how to learn it best | Course in Selci on March 21-22

The olive tree, a symbolic tree of our territory, requires care and knowledge. GeoSabina supports it by promoting the course on pruning techniques sponsored by the Municipality of Selci.

Olive tree pruning is a topic that often generates debates among farmers and enthusiasts. Some argue that olive trees do not need to be pruned, since they are plants that can grow autonomously. But then why are there pruning courses?

The answer is simple: well-executed pruning is not so much useful for the tree, but for those who will harvest the olives. A properly pruned olive tree allows you to:

  • Produce more olives and improve their quality
  • Optimize harvest times, reducing effort and the risk of injury
  • Keep the tree healthy and productive in the long term

Learning the correct pruning techniques means “talking to the olive tree” and guiding it in production, optimizing work in the field.
