Wanted in Rome tells the story of GeoSabina: discovering the Sabina region
GeoSabina connects and tells the story of an authentic Sabina, made up of villages, landscapes, businesses and communities, helping to build a destination that is increasingly recognisable and still full of places to discover.
The Sabina region, its authenticity and the journey towards building a destination capable of connecting villages, municipalities, businesses and local communities.
This is the main theme of the in-depth interview dedicated to GeoSabina by Wanted in Rome, the long-established English-language publication serving Rome’s international community and people interested in discovering and experiencing Italy.
The article, entitled “Putting the Sabina Region on the Map. Inside GeoSabina”, explores the vision behind today’s GeoSabina and some of the main challenges we are working on: overcoming the fragmentation of small territories, developing a genuine culture of hospitality and building a network capable of presenting Sabina as a single destination while preserving the identity of each individual village.
A territory still waiting to be discovered
One of the central themes of the interview is precisely what makes Sabina so interesting today: in many areas, it is still outside the circuits of standardised tourism.
Villages, landscapes, olive groves, castles, abbeys, traditions and everyday life still coexist within an authentic territory just a short distance from Rome.
The challenge is not simply to attract more visitors, but to create the conditions to welcome them and allow them to truly experience the territory, while preserving what makes Sabina different from destinations that have already undergone intensive tourism development.
Building a network to create a destination
In the interview we also talk about GeoSabina’s day-to-day work: more than 200 points of interest, the network of municipalities, events, interactive maps and a local offering that continues to expand.
Alongside the cultural and natural heritage, the network of local businesses is also growing through the Where to Stay and Where to Eat sections, together with local products and the future area dedicated to Experiences.
It is a system in which digital tools and a physical presence across the territory must become increasingly integrated. GeoSabina Info Points, the involvement of local businesses and the development of new services are all moving in this direction.
Because, as we explain in the interview, technology should bring us to the territory, not replace it.
Bringing Sabina to an international audience
Being featured by an international publication is, above all, another opportunity for GeoSabina to take the story of Sabina beyond its traditional boundaries and introduce new visitors to a territory that still has so much to offer.
It is a journey that is still developing, but the growing interest from visitors, tourism operators, businesses and local administrations confirms that something is beginning to change.
Through the website and the GeoSabina App, we continue to work to make it increasingly easy to discover places, events, businesses and stories from a territory that still retains a strong and distinctive identity.
