Palazzo Orsini int Toffia was built in the fifteenth century, and with its simple and superb lines is a magnificent example of humanistic: it has a nice porch with four arches on the upper floor, while the first floor the facade is decorated with three magnificent windows Guelph (or cross) in travertine.
The palace is not the only home of the Orsini at Toffia, and this is not surprising if we think that this powerful aristocratic family has firmly held the Commandery farfense 1437 to 1543 (with a brief period under the Della Rovere). They were also resposnible for reconstruction of the Farfa church, consecrated in 1496 over the previous Carolingian edification.
The branch of the Orsini family lived here for many generations until, in 1524, Napoleone Orsini donated it to the Community.
The premises on the ground floor – presumably the old cellars, where the historical memory of Toffia elderly still remember the last City Oven – since 1997 is the seat of the Municipal Library. The upper floors of the building host the municipal administration offices, and during the 90’s the complex restoration of Orsini Palace returned to its former glory.
