Walking along Via Porta Maggiore in Toffia, at the number 16 we can notice a wonderful ancient house with several entrances. The ancient Oddoni House (1300).
The Oddoni House faced is characterized by a fine example of Sabine portal and a window Guelph (groin) of the fifteenth century, quadripartite in travertine cornices.
Similar openings can be also admired in the rear at Via delle Scalette, reflecting and clearly showing the historical relevance of the building.
On the he faced, ancient plaster and with diamonds shape and geometric designs, can be still admired, jointly characteristic tapestries faux painted, good trend even outside on the prestigious buildings at that time.
Right next to the upper left corner decorations, traces of a fresco can be still clearly noticed – a monk and Madonna – made with the so- called procedure “in days”: it was spread and used just the layer of plaster that the painter supposed he could paint until the plaster was moist, that is to say, for about a day.
Just later the plaster was dried out, and, not absorbing more color, the joints between the various days were hidden with a squaring painted dry (colors laid on the plaster dry).
On the faced, a small fresco of the Addolorata (The Virgin) can be noticed above the lintel of the n. 18, unluckily made unrecognizable nowadays by the practice of ignition candles under.
The palace is today bound.
