The Church of Saint Sebastian the Martyr is a small jewel located in the municipality of Bocchignano, in the province of Rieti. This sacred building is dedicated to the martyr saint Sebastian, who lost his life in Rome back in 304 AD.
Built during the 20th century, the church has its present shape and size. Its exterior features a sturdy masonry structure, with a gabled facade and a single main entrance. Inside, there is a single nave, with a flat ceiling made of steel and concrete ribs.
The most significant artistic element of the church is a fresco depicting the crucifixion, surrounded by Saints Sebastian and Rocco. This work, datable to the mid-16th century, occupies a central position on the chancel wall, exuding an aura of sacredness and devotion.
The Church of St. Sebastian the Martyr welcomes worshippers and visitors, opening its doors for religious ceremonies and sightseeing. This place of worship offers not only a spiritual experience, but also the opportunity to admire an important piece of history and art in the tranquility of Bocchignano.
