Church of St. Francis Xavier

The Church of St. Francis Xavier, located in the Municipality of Cantalupo at La Praterina, outside the town. It was built in 1689 by Princess Margherita Sforza Altamura Mansoli Colonna and Giacinta Conti Cesi Duchess of Acquasparta.

It passed through ownership several times until Baroness Emma D’Antoni donated it to the Verdone family, owners of a nearby settlement, who restored it both inside and out.

The church has a central, octagonal plan with four longer and four shorter sides; the ceiling is an elliptical dome.

The similarities with the Parish Church, and the contemporary nature of the buildings suggest the same author or at least the same Roman school.
