The church Church of the Virgin of Pity or St. Peter situated in the beautiful edge of Castel San Pietro (Poggio Mirteto) was dedicated to St. Peter, hence perhaps the origin of the name of the village, then it was dedicated to the Virgin of Pity.
The rather bare facade is in late Baroque forms and is slightly concave. The single-nave interior also shows some movement in its layout.
It has a single nave with a bell tower. There is only one altar in plaster; behind is placed the painting of the Virgin in the Clouds in Glory of Angels while holding her Child naked and with open arms. At his feet, kneeling and with the head tilted, we can admire the Saints Francis and Agnes; the one with her arms out and the stigmata, the other with the hands clasped in prayer. At the feet of the Saint, the Lamb and the palm of martyrdom.
