The original structure of the palace, has undergone various and complex works of enlargement over the centuries, especially when in the 15th century it changed its original function to become the princely seat of the commendatory abbot of Farfa, then in the 19th century the buildings were added to accommodate the seminary.
On the seminary portal is the memorial plaque , which in turn is crowned by the papal coat of arms. Various architectural elements make up the facade with ancient marbles incorporated on the wall. On the central door, which used to be the only one and gave access to the fortress-palace, two slits open at the top through which the rockers operated to raise or lower the drawbridge.
The current access ramp replaces the old drawbridge on the left side of the building.
The interior of the building to date cannot be visited due to expansion works, which will make room for the diocesan museum that will be right inside the building
