The Poggio Mirteto Memory Trail: a path of reflection and knowledge is a hiking trail that winds through the territory of the Lazio municipality, in the province of Rieti. The trail is dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Second World War and the Resistance. The trail begins at the Poggio Mirteto train station and develops along a circular route of about 10 kilometers that passes through woods, paths, rural roads and historical sites.
The trail touches the following points of interest:
- The Poggio Mirteto train station, where there is a monument dedicated to the partisans who fell in the battle of Poggio Mirteto (1944).
- The partisan cemetery, where the fallen of the battle of Poggio Mirteto are buried.
- The Collelungo stone quarry, where some partisans were shot in 1944.
- The Collelungo cemetery, where the civilians killed by the Nazi-Fascists in 1944 are buried.
- The Collelungo rest home, where a concentration camp for Jews and political prisoners was hosted.
