At the foot of the majestic Mount Tancia, the highest of the Sabine mountains, and in the vicinity of Mount Ode, lies an enchanted place known as the Devil’s Pools. Nestled in dense forests, this magical corner is made evocative by the Galantina stream that cascades in waterfalls, creating picturesque pools along its course.

This natural gem, is accessible via a path that follows the course of the Galantina stream and leads to the hermitage of St. Michael. The Devil’s Pools, a kind of natural swimming pool, represent a wonder of nature, with emerald green water cascading down, surrounded by lush forests. A magical place that seems distant from the chaos of the city, almost a corner of paradise in the heart of Sabina.

To reach this enchanted place, you can take the path from Poggio Catino or Monte San Giovanni in Sabina. Crossing the Tancia Pass and the picturesque little bridge at the ancient Osteria del Tancia of medieval origin, you can follow the course of the Galantina Stream.

The trail will guide you to Devil’s Pools, where the stream forms a waterfall that flows into natural pools. Along the way, you can admire two pools, one upstream of the waterfall and the other downstream. The return can be enriched by following the Hermitages Trail, which will take you to the hermitages of San Michele and San Leonardo.

This secret place, hidden among the valleys and mountains of Sabina, is an unmissable stop for those who wish to discover the unspoiled beauty of Lazio, far from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
