In the funeral chapel of the cemetery it is possible to admire the work Cenere by the Spanish artist Gonzalo Borondo, created for the public art residence, which transformed the chapel of Selci into a mysterious pilgrimage destination for art. A complicated intervention that adds to the 8 large paintings, created to describe the different ways of man, as many suggestions provided by the 8 glass plates on which the first symbol of the transience of life, the candle, masters.

On the circular wall, a disciplined scale of gradients stands out, which rise from the white monolithic floor to connect with the dark grays of a pictorial Renaissance sky and then close in a sophisticated central area made of pure gold leaf.

Different disciplines have found dialogue thanks to the light that the artist has imagined as a necessary combination between the cold of the painting and the warm flesh of the light beams that surround the profile of the large central cross and the door specially designed in glass and wrought iron from which natural light enters.

The work was finally defined thanks to a clay artifact that surrounds the chapel at the top, reminding those who will live in that place as “The end is the beginning”. Inside the chapel there is also a wrought iron box, made by the same hands that erected the door of the chapel, where the suggestions, images and materials that articulate the complexity of the place are kept. on May 26, 2017.
